Surface treatment nitrocarburizing / nitriding
The surface layer treatment (nitrocarburizing / nitriding) that meets the highest quality standards. The wear resistance of this treatment demonstrates exceptional results in mechanical engineering, especially for transmission parts, gears, and tool and mold making – in other words, wherever high abrasion resistance is required.
Nitriding, also known in technical terms as nitrogen nitriding, is a process for hardening steel. Nitriding is a surface hardening process. Nitrogen is used for this process. It creates a surface layer that is resistant to temperatures up to approximately 500°C. The manufacturing process is typically carried out at temperatures around 500…520°C with treatment times of 1 to 100 hours. The core of the material remains ferritic, and the formation of near-surface austenite due to nitrogen diffusion is also avoided.
